Problem has been diagnosed: Gate uses strtod() to parse values from the database and as soon as Qt interface is enabled, strtod() starts "behaving weird", ie. expects comma for decimal separator. Using setlocale(LC_NUMERIC, "C"); anywhere in the source code solves the problem.
