I use a completely different approach.

At the start of each event my code seeds the PRNG with the event number. So I 
can always re-run a given event by just knowing its event number. The HEPJames 
generator that Geant4 uses guarantees excellent results with seeds from 0 to 
900,000,000 -- adequate for my use.

Note that any change in the program can potentially make the events different, 
so be sure to use the same program to re-run events. For my program 
(G4beamline), this includes the input file that defines the geometry and the 
simulation.
