Question How to reset Geant4 before injecting another particle

Forum: Run Management
Date: 14 Aug, 2017
From: Kevin Wells <Kevin Wells>

Hello,

We are using Geant4 via g4py and a package called chroma to simulate a scintillation detector. We would like to shoot single particles (electrons or gamma photons) from various locations to test the detector performance. Single particles are working fine, but when we shoot the next particle, the state of the Geant4 detector is such that the first run affects the results of the second.

The question is how to reset Geant4 without having to start the program over from the beginning. We have tried several approached with no success.

A related question is how to determine and/or force the state of the Geant4 state machine?

Thank you, Kevin Wells
