I'm trying to simulate the electron deposit energy in the gaseous media. Using the TestEm8 example with the PAI model and our geometry (box of 56 mm He/isoButane 80/20 mixture) the deposit energy dependence on the lower cut on secondaries production was studies.
Results for different cut values are attached along with the HEED curve. What could be the reason of such dependence and which cut value should be picked?
The HEED curve is more or less reproduced with a cut = 20 eV, which is close to the He ionization potential. But what is the source of secondary electrons for cut value < 20 eV?
P.S. The cuts were set by calling the /cuts/setLowEdge ... eV in the input file which is equivalent to calling the G4ProductionCutsTable::SetEnergyRange(low, high) method.
The electrons of 3 MeV kinetic energy were used as a primary particles.
