I stumbled over an effect of the SetDefaultCutValue method for reference PhysicsLists which I don't understand: With no cut values set, the number of neutrons produced in a particle shower induced by a 100GeV electron is five times smaller than the number of neutrons in a particle shower where SetDefaultCutValue(0.25*mm) was used in the simulation. My detector medium is ice.
I thought that SetDefaultCutValue sets the corresponding values for electrons, positrons and gammas. Can someone explain to me how this effects the neutron yield?
