I am simulating interaction of ~ 1 GeV proton beam with Hg target to produce charged pions. Most of these pions decay at rest producing neutrinos. I am investigating different physics lists available in GEANT4. I tried QGSP_BERT, FTFP_BERT, QGSP_BIC, and FTFP_INCLXX physics lists and found that QGSP BIC results completely differ from other three. I far as I know there are not any p+Hg exp data to validate this. Looking at p+ C or p + Pb data at ~1 GeV, it looks like BERT has slightly better agreement with exp data. FYI, I am using GEANT4 p02. Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
I also have a question about pi^-/mu^- capture at rest process. In our simulation, almost all of the produced pi^-/mu^- are being captured, none of them decay (at rest), less than 0.5 % decay in flight. This sounds a bit odd to me. Any comments?
