I'm doing some simulations to calculate the energy deposited by electrons of different energy in a silicon layer 1 mm width.
I developed the code starting from the ones in examples/extended/electromagnetic/TestEm1
my detector construction make a world filled by vacuum in which there is a layer of silicon.
Electrons are shot with energy varying form 0.5 MeV to 5.5 MeV.
Before I send 1000000 of electrons of 0.5 MeV and I fill an histogram,
then I repeat with energy of 0.75 MeV and I fill another histogram...
and so on until 5.5 MeV.
These histograms are very strange and something is not going right.
I attached some pictures of the histograms plotted. In each of these you can see a straight line in coincidence with the energy of the electrons shot to the silicon. I think that this behaviour is not physical and I can't explain what is coming. For example for energy 5.25 MeV there is a small line in the last part of the histogram... for energy that become smaller and smaller this line grow. For low energy I get only the straight line how if all particles were totally absorbed but there is not a curve, it is a discontinuity point!
can someone explain me?
I used livermore physics list and also the standard one bat nothing change; I also played with the range cut... but nothing
