Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. not clear where is the problem in HP or in EM physics.
In the case of your application there are two stages: neutron capture and nuclear de-excitation. Which primary gamma spectrum seems to be correct from your point of view? You may plot only primary gammas if select primary particle from the beam - (ParentID=1).
Do you use newest G4NDL4.2PUB data for the HP package?
If nuclear part is OK then we should discuss gamma propagation and signal shape in Ge crystal. It is pure EM physics, which should include photoeffect, Compton, .... and also atomic de-excitation. For 9.6 I would use Penelope EM sub-package, where escape peak should be correct by default. For example, you may try out FTFP_BERT_HP_PEN Physics List, which can be created via G4PhysListFactory. Or alternatively QGSP_BERT_HP_PEN.
