Question physics with Coulomb barrier in light ions interactions

Forum: Physics List
Date: 02 Jan, 2012
From: Adriana Bungau <Adriana Bungau>

Dear all,

In my simulation, using QGSP_BIC, I am looking at all the isotopes produced in the interaction of 240 MeV alphas with Beryllium.

There are some C14 isotopes produced in inelastic interaction of secondary Li7 isotopes with the Be9 inside the target.

However there are concerns that the energy of secondary Li7 isotopes is likely to be below the Coulomb barrier for it to interact (via ion Inelastic) with Be9.

Could you please let me know if QGSP_BIC takes into account the Coulomb barrier in ionInelastic processes? I know it includes the Coulomb barrier for charged hadrons projectiles.

If QGSP_BIC does not include this, could you please let me know an alternative physics which does, or how I could include it myself in this physics list?

Thank you very much,

Best regards,

Adriana
