Question Simulate delayed emission for an instrument

Forum: Physics List

From: Manuel Castro Avila <Manuel Castro Avila>

Hi,

I would like your help.

I need to simulate the background produced by interaction the protons with a material for a specific instrument. When exist the interaction between the particle and the material, some of the product nuclei resulting from the interaction may not stable and emit further secondary particles when undergoing radioactive decay. Depending on the lifetime of the unstable product nucleus, the time delay between its production and its decay may be long contributing to the delayed instrumental background.

My question is if this type of simulation is possible to make using GEANT 4.

Thanks,

Manuel
