Hello Vladimir,

after your suggestion to submit a bug report I went back and did a few more checks.

So here is what I found for the different types of data:

most geant4 hadronic lists use this data, i.e. they require the G4LEVELGAMMADATA environment variable to be set. However if it is set the program will run eventhough the data dosen't exist! I will file a bug report for that.

G4ELASTICDATA: this seems to be never used at all. The only occurence of this is in which in turn is not used in any other file/class in geant4 7.1.p01. Does anyone know whether this data is completely irrelevant or obsolete ? Should it be provided in a 'standard geant4 installation' ?

G4LEDATA: NeutronHPCrossSections for these two the situation is like you say: an exception/error occurs if the data files don't exist.

G4RADIOACTIVEDATA: I could not verify the beahviour with this data type as my application crashes with the LBE physics list which seems to be the only one requiring these data files...

  Regards, Frank.
