Question Problem with the number of bins!!!

Forum: Persistency

Dear G4experts,

Firs I wanna explain my geometry. Is a simple geometry which is a radiation detector (box) divide in small detector (box too). The dimension of the out detector and the small detector depends of the user. At the end of the program I have the deposited energy for a particle in each small detector like the energy in each copyNo.

Now I wanna give to each one of this small detector a "x,y,z" value and this way do some histogram. For example if I wanna do a 1D Histogram with the values of x for y=0 and z=0 I need define the initial and end x and the numbers of bins.I need that the number of bins will be equal to the number of small detector in this axes, for that reason I divide the size of the out detector/ the size of the small detector in that axis.

In one example which I run the size of the out detector=5.01 um and size of the small detector=0.01. The result of this 501, but when I did a debug of the program it show that the result is 500.99999999999, and because of that the size of the bins is given trouble. How I try to declare the variable like a int but instead to obtain 501 the program return 500. Any advice about how I can do for obtain 501 from this division or what I can do for obtain a correct bin size?

Thanks, Annie
