Hi Hatiden,

You can visualize your resulting gdml using 
examples/extended/persistency/gdml/G01 and see if the result looks OK. 
The original stp could be visualized using other tools (for example 
FreeCad or the tool that you already are using) so that you could compare.

I know this does not answer all you, but I hope this helps,
