Hi,

A simulation program on a Linux RedHat 9.0 computer using Geant4.6.2.p01 and the HP_PRECO hadronic physics terminated with the following error (some additional verbose output lines are not copied here):

I wrote a simple code that reproduces this issue. It can be copied from time@ftp.metas.ch/voros/HP_PRECO_test.tar.gz">ftp://guest:time@ftp.metas.ch/voros/HP_PRECO_test.tar.gz and extracted in a directory called HP_PRECO_test. It can be compiled like any Geant4 example with the "gmake" command and the executable will be called "totabs". (I noticed that the hypernews system has the tendency of messing up the ftp link given here, so if it should not be readable, here it is again with double quotes " added to prevent that, so just remove all the " before using it : ftp:"//guest:time"@"ftp.metas.ch/voros/HP_PRECO_test.tar.gz).

This code (toghether with the provided vis.mac macro which is executed automatically by the code) simulates a quartz cylinder surrounded by air. For each event a proton of 500 MeV located at -40 cm is shot along the Z axis towards the cylinder surface located at 0 cm. I get the above error by just giving the command

Idle> /run/beamOn 1

Does somebody know what the problem is?

Thanks a lot for any hint.

Sandor
