Question how to use the latch feature

Forum: Particles
Date: 07 Jun, 2016
From: Maura E.M. <Maura E.M.>

I would appreciate if someone could clarify my ideas about a Geant4 feature called "latch".

My understanding is that latch is used in a phase space file to keep track of a particle origin.

Someone states it is used to record the particle last interaction before getting at the phase space surface.

Anyway, I would need to generate an output phase space file which stores ONLY the histories whose LAST interaction, before reaching the phase space surface, occurred in a selected component. I don't care about what happened below the phase space surface. Is this feasible through the latch feature or any other way ?

Many thanks. Mauede
