Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. I´m working on my Masters project and have a few problems that might be solveable pretty easy.
I´m working on a Geant4 simulation for lifetime measurement of excited nuclear states.
My Setup looks pretty simple. I have a degrader, a detector and a Gun.
What I have so far is the whole Geometry. I managed to make the Gun "shoot" Ions with A,Z and a kinetic Energy towards the degrader. The simulation therefore works fine, same is true for the visualization.
The Code for my gun looks like:

G4double IonCharge=0*eplus, ExcitEnergy=1.*MeV;
The problem with this Generator is that it does not create excited Ions. I want Geant4 to create excited Ions that de-excite with the excitation energy I set statistically within the lifetime. Is there a way to create those excited Ions? If no, would it be possible if I change the ParticleGun to the G4GeneralParticlesource? I dont think that something like de-excitation of Ions is not implemented in Geant4.
I read the documentation carefully and did some google searches but could not find any helpful advises, so it would be very nice to get some feedback and/or help.
