Question Executable fails with too many particles

Forum: Particles
Date: 01 Nov, 2011
From: matthew <matthew>

I'm using a PC with Cygwin interface to run GEANT4. I have an program that runs fine for 50000 particles but fails when I increase the number of particles to 100000 using

/run/beamOn 100000

It doesn't event print an error message, it just stops. Thinking it may be a stack size issue, I followed the instructions in thread 424 to raise the stack size using the command

ulimit -s 900000

but I get an error in Cygwin:
bash: ulimit: stack size: cannot modify limit: Invalid argument

Is it possible to increase the stack size? Is there a different way of solving the problem? thanks in advance for any suggestions.
