Charles,

What about if you cout<<*z_pos<<endl or cout<<z<<endl? What do you get?

Anyway, your C++ is rather convoluted - how about just:

.hh: G4double x, y, z;

.cc: x = -200; y = 0; z = 0; in the constructor and z += val; in PG_move_z
