Question Simulating beta particle source

Forum: Particles
Date: 23 Apr, 2010
From: AJ Richards <AJ Richards>

Hi, I am trying to shoot beta particles at a target to measure the energy deposition. I am having trouble specifying the energy spectrum I want the particle generator to use. It certainly seems like GeneralParticleSource is what I want to use, but since the beta spectrum doesn't fall into one of the built-in spectra (Linear, Log, etc...), it looks like I have to use the User or Arb option. Does this mean I have to define the beta spectrum by entering in by hand ~50 points to make a user histogram? Is there a way to take an analytical formula and have GPS use that as an energy spectrum? Thanks for any ideas you can provide :) -AJ
