You can get the name of the process which limited the step by:

thePostPoint->GetProcessDefinedStep()->GetProcessName()

To find out about which additional along-step-processes were active during the step, seems to be much more complicated, see:

The energy lost [G4Step::GetTotalEnergyDeposit] by a particle during a step is that which goes to the medium and to sub cut-off secondaries. If you decrease your range cut, your simulation will produce lower and lower energy (range) secondaries explicitly.
