How did you specify, for example, the index of refraction, as in:

NUMENTRIES needs to be at least of size 2, and ppckov[NUMENTRIES] specifies the range of allowed photon energies. You can make that range rather small so long as it is not identical zero.

Now, this I can't explain, because G4ParticleGun::SetParticleMomentumDirection:

http://www-geant4.kek.jp/lxr/source//event/include/G4ParticleGun.hh#L96

makes sure the direction is a unit vector.

I suspect you didn't specify a momentum range and we have a rounding problem coming from the unit vector, for the total photon momentum (vector) - used in optical photon processes - is the energy times the direction components.
