I have now done as you suggested, and made progress. Now at least Geant tell me that there is scintillation, but I see no optical photons from the process. The Scintillation is always the last step of the track, at zero energy.

If I increase the energy of the proton, I get optical photons from secondary electrons. As far as I can see they are produced by Cerenkov radiation.

I still use the same detector construction as before. I guess if I set the optical properties in the code, instead of via a macro, it should make no difference?

I will continue my investigation, and I am still happy for all answers, suggestions, ideas.
