One thing that can happen is that the photon energy gets to the lower end of the WLSCOMPONENT spectrum and no photon can be generated. The message is:
G4WT0 >  *** One less WLS photon will be returned ***
G4WT0 >  *** No WLS photon can be sampled for this primary ***

(I hardcoded verboseLevel=2 at the beginning of G4OpWLS::PostStepDoIt() to see this--don't know why /process/verbose 2 didn't work.)

If you set /tracking/verbose 2 you can see the energy of the photon that gets absorbed. Is this close to the low end of the spectrum?
