Dear All,

Hi, I am trying to simulate optical photons in scintillators. My detector is a 16 layers of scintillating material each of them wrapped in Mylar. Mylar was implemented this way:

  G4OpticalSurface* matMylarSurface = new G4OpticalSurface("mylarSurface");
  matMylarSurface->SetType(dielectric_metal);
  matMylarSurface->SetFinish(ground);
  matMylarSurface->SetModel(glisur);

  G4MaterialPropertiesTable* MPTmylarSurface = new G4MaterialPropertiesTable();

  G4double mylar_Energy[2] = {2.0*eV, 3.6*eV};
  G4double mylar_REFL[2] = {0.9,0.9};
  G4double mylar_EFFI[2] = {0.0, 0.0};
  MPTmylarSurface->AddProperty("REFLECTIVITY",mylar_Energy,mylar_REFL,2);
  MPTmylarSurface->AddProperty("EFFICIENCY",mylar_Energy,mylar_EFFI,2);
  matMylarSurface->SetMaterialPropertiesTable(MPTmylarSurface);

The wrapper was implemented using SkinSurface.

   new G4LogicalSkinSurface("scintWrapping",fLogicScintLayer,matMylarSurface);

For a test I runed the simulation with only one (01) scintillator layer and everything went fine: optical photons are produced and then reflected on the surface.

However when constructing the whole detector using replicated volumes, optical photons seems to be stopped or absorbed at the surface.

fPhysiScintLayer = new G4PVReplica("ActiveLayerScint", 
				       fLogicScintLayer,            
				       fPhysiScintBox,            
				       kZAxis, 
				       fNbOfScintLayers,        
				       fCaloLayer_Z);  

I read in some old (2002) lecture on Optical processes that Using SkinSurface with G4PVReplica could give some problems. Is this still an issue? or did I made some mistake in my implementation? In any case, how can I solve this problem ?
