Question Cerenkov angle

Dear all

Hello,
I have a question about Cerenkov angle.
I thought that the distribution of Cerenkov angle will be gaussian, but it doesn't look like.

I shoot an ion beam through the radiator, and this generated Cerenkov lights.
I wanted to find real Cerenkov angle (without photon detector), so first I've got vertex momentum direction of each photons.
And just calculated cerenkov angle. as below. The direction of beam is (0,0,1).

    md_x = aStep->GetTrack()->GetVertexMomentumDirection().x();
    md_y = aStep->GetTrack()->GetVertexMomentumDirection().y();
    md_z = aStep->GetTrack()->GetVertexMomentumDirection().z();
    angle_cerenkov = acos(md_z/sqrt(pow(md_x,2) + pow(md_y,2) + pow(md_z,2)));

I attached how result looks like.
Actually this value is quite similar to the Cerenkov angle what I expected, but I don't know why it is not gaussian and show me strange shape.
