I've turned the verbosity of the steppingVerbose up to 4.

    ++List of secondaries generated (x,y,z,kE,t,PID): No. of secodaries = 1005
      [Note]Secondaries from AlongStepDoIt included.
      -0.00903811     -0.01     -0.01 2.913e-06   3.79071      opticalphoton

through to last photon....

      -0.00954921     -0.01     -0.01 2.913e-06   1.09463      opticalphoton

Particle = alpha Energy Dep. = 0 Yield = 1000

 Exiting from G4Scintillation::DoIt -- NumberOfSecondaries = 994
 **List of AtRestDoIt invoked:
   # 1 : Scintillation (Forced)
   Generated secondries # : 994
   -- List of secondaries generated : (x,y,z,kE,t,PID) --
      -0.00589424     -0.01     -0.01 2.913e-06      -nan      opticalphoton

Is this enough to figure out what is going on?
