How should that work "alpha + europium -> optical photon"? You need a charge particle that travels in your scintillator. What do you get when you turn tracking verbose on? Do you have a charge particle in your scintillator losing energy? I don't know whether the PhysicsList you show is the full thing or only a partial physics list? Where is: G4EmStandardPhysics? What example are you following - looks like /examples/extended/runAndEvent/RE04
