Hi Nicolas,

You are saying that the optical reflectivity of a metal depends also on the dielectric medium the metal is in contact with. Is that physical? Perhaps, careful reading of Fowlers 'Introduction to Modern Optics' can clarify the situation. I have contacted the original author of the derivation you referred and linked and asked him to explain at his convenience. He is not a G4 collaboration member. Allowing for a complex index of refraction was a user's contribution to Geant4.
