Question Imaginary index and Absorption Length

Forum: Processes Involving Optical Photons
Date: 04 Sep, 2012
From: Nicolas Di Vara <Nicolas Di Vara>

Hi,

I have a question about the role of absorption length and refractive indices: does the imaginary part of the refractive index and the absorption length for optical photons provide somehow redundant information? If so, does Geant choose one or the other for the optical absorption process?

thank you, Nicolas
