Question WLSMEANNUMBERPHOTONS

Forum: Processes Involving Optical Photons

From: vesna cuplov <vesna cuplov>

Dear everyone:

I am working under Geant4.9.5.p01 and try to use the WLSMEANNUMBERPHOTONS property of the Wavelength Shifting Process.

With this property set to 1, I should not have any changes in my simulation because by default the number of WLS photons emitted per excitation photon is set to 1. (see the code below).

  G4int NumPhotons = 1;

  if (aMaterialPropertiesTable->ConstPropertyExists("WLSMEANNUMBERPHOTONS")) {

     G4double MeanNumberOfPhotons = aMaterialPropertiesTable->
                                    GetConstProperty("WLSMEANNUMBERPHOTONS");

     NumPhotons = G4int(G4Poisson(MeanNumberOfPhotons));

When I run my simulation with WLSMEANNUMBERPHOTONS = 1, the number of fluorescent photons drops to 9%. Without the use of this property I get 99.9%.

Does anyone know why could be wrong. I define this property in my material xml file as follows: <property name="WLSMEANNUMBERPHOTONS" value="1.0" />

Thank you, vesna
