Question Optical photon particle gun

Forum: Processes Involving Optical Photons
Date: 12 Jun, 2012
From: Steve Asztalos <Steve Asztalos>

I have studied examples LXe and N06 in more detail and can be more specific about the statements I made in my question (posted on 06/11) regarding the applicability of these examples to my specific problem.

I wish to isotropically generate optical photons at evenly spaced position intervals in a CsI scintillator and count them as they hit my sensitive volume to map out position versus light collection (to study relatively complicated phoswich geometries).

Can I generate optical photons isotropically as I have with other particle guns? Must I explicitly randomize the polarization vector as well? Are there any nuances to watch out for?

Thanks,

Steve
