Sorry for the late reply. Your posting happened to fall in the middle of our holiday season and then I missed it in a flood of email.

I don't have an answer to your question. In fact, I would like to ask you to help debug this problem. Do you have access to the Geant4 source? If so, can you please find out what is being calculated for these types of situation in DielectricLUT:

http://www-geant4.kek.jp/lxr/source/processes/optical/src/G4OpBoundaryProcess.cc#L718

The logic isn't very complicated and it would be nice to find out what exactly is going wrong. Alternatively, if your application is rather simple, or if you can reduce it to a minimum, you can send me a tar-ball (gum@triumf.ca).
