Question Image Noise

Forum: Processes Involving Optical Photons
Date: 19 Dec, 2010
From: Ibrahim <Ibrahim>

Hi,

I have a question about noise in the X-ray image. I am using Geant4 for X-ray Imaging purpose. Gd2O2S Scintillator screen is used to convert X-rays interacting in Gd2O2S into optical photons. A pixilated Photodetector is paced directly behind Gd2O2S to detect optical photons coming out of the Gd2O2S. an object being imaged is placed between Gd2O2S and X-ray source. The image which I got looks noisy. The image is attached herewith. It is an image of a slanted edge made of tungsten which is used to calculate the Modulation Transfer Function. What should I do in order to reduce this noise and get a homogenous image? I highly appreciate your help.

Kind regards
