There are two things Geant4 does, it samples an interaction length, and it samples from possible final states after an interaction. For Rayleigh scattering, the Rayleigh scattering mean free path is set with:


the keyword expected is RAYLEIGH and, for example:

G4double Scattering [nEntries] = {0.35*mm, 0.37*mm, 0.4*mm,};

However, should your scattering follow a different distribution from Rayleigh scattering, you'll need to implement this type of scattering (process) yourself (in addition) and attach it to the optical photon. You can do this analogous to G4OpRayleigh.
