Question help with reflection and refraction

Forum: Processes Involving Optical Photons

Hello, I am a new Geant4 User. I am currently trying to model a cerenkov detector. I am using model a quartz block with conical water channels on one side. When I shoot a particle into the block, the photons that are generated from the particle all reflect off the water channels. I am using a glisur model, with dielectric-dielectric type and a polished finish. I am trying to use the water channels to direct the photons. I have material tables for the water and the quartz with the index of refraction in both. I cannot figure out why there is not refraction of the photons, only reflection.

First it tried to use logical skin surfaces. Then I read that you do not need to apply skin surfaces if you are using a glisur, dielectric-dielectric, polished set up. When I removed the logical skin surfaces the behavior of photons did not change. Still only reflection.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
