Question mylar and surfaces

Hello users,

I'm doing a simulation of an electromagnetic calorimeter which will be installed in the KLOE2 experiment -Italy - for my thesis. My detector is made of an internal matrix of 10 crystals of LYSO and an external matrix composed of 12 crystals of PbWO4. Each one of these crystals is wrapped with reflecting material ( maybe will be Mylar or Tyvek ). The "family" is this : the crystals are inside a big volume of Mylar which is inside the world. BUT when I leave the crystals bares ( no mylar no surfaces ) inside the wold ( therefore without any wrapping ) I have a number of hits greater than of when I insert the crystals inside the Box of Mylar even if in this case I added a surface between crystals and mylar and between mylar and the world. In particular my surfaces are polished and unified. I thought it is right to put the crystals inside the Box Mylar and the Box Mylar inside the world implementing those two surfaces but when ( just to prove ) I deleted the Box Mylar and the surfaces I found my statistics increased! In a certain sense my mylar absorbs!!!

Could you help me? I wait for yours responses.

Thanks very much,

Regards,

Stefania
