Question Problem with GetPolarization method?

Keywords: polarization
Forum: Processes Involving Optical Photons
Date: 17 Sep, 2002
From: Michel Sorel <>

it seems to me that the polarization vector stored in the
 GetPolarization method in G4Track (or G4DynamicParticle, for
 that matter) doesn't make sense. For example, by just adding
 a few print statements in the novice example N04:

ExN04TrackingAction::PreUserTrackingAction electron polarization: (0,0,0)

ExN04SteppingAction::UserSteppingAction polarization: (-0.109043,153741,-1.99299)

ExN04SteppingAction::UserSteppingAction polarization: (-0.109043,153741,-1.99299)

ExN04TrackingAction::PostUserTrackingAction electron polarization: (-0.109043,153741,-1.99299)

Am I missing something? Has anybody seen this same weird behaviour?
 This is with version 4.1 and Linux Red Hat 7.1; the values are
 unphysical (but different) for version 4.0, too.

Thanks, Michel.
