i have never used cmake to install geant4 and i uncounter a maybe trivial problem during the installation of geant4.10.00.
Following the instructions given in the installation guide i make the command
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX absolutepath/geant4.10.0-install absolutepath/geant4.10.00
and it returns me the following messages:
CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake/Modules/CMakeDetermineCCompiler.cmake:31 (MESSAGE): Could not find compiler set in environment variable CC:
icc. Call Stack (most recent call first): CMakeLists.txt:35 (project)
CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may be not be built correctly. Missing variable is: CMAKE_C_COMPILER_ENV_VAR CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may be not be built correctly. Missing variable is: CMAKE_C_COMPILER

if i add the command
setenv CC /usr/bin/gcc
one reads -- The C compiler identification is unknown -- The CXX compiler identification is GNU -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/gcc -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/gcc -- broken CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake/Modules/CMakeTestCCompiler.cmake:32 (MESSAGE): The C compiler "/usr/bin/gcc" is not able to compile a simple test program.
and so on...
My problem seems to be that the C compiler is not recognised while it has to be GNU. What can i do to prevent from this error. thanks in advance
