Question Geant4.9.5 memory consumption

Forum: Installation and Configuration
Date: 25 Jan, 2012
From: Matthias Volnhals <Matthias Volnhals>

I have a question concerning the differences between Geant4 versions 9.3 and 9.5, as I need to migrate due to the problems with the Li6 + n reaction in 9.3 that were already mentioned in this forum.

I have a working simulation of a neutron detector that I have created with Geant4 9.3 (patch 2); when I run it, it takes ~76 MB of my RAM. When I compile it using version 9.5, the initial memory usage is much higher, and is further rising as the simulation proceeds. This is a problem, as use several instances of the application parallelly on my PC, and this floods my RAM making the applications crash.

How can there be a memory leak in my application if it works perfectly with Geant4.9.3? What can I do to make it run with 9.5? I would appreciate your help! Thanks,

Matthias V.
