I am using Geant4 9.4 patch03. My program builds and passes all tests in 32-bit mode on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.
I am trying to get it to work when compiled in 64-bit mode on Linux (SLF 5.5-64) and Mac OS X (Lion, 10.7.2). It builds fine, but fails about 20% of my tests, identically on Linux and Mac. The 32-bit builds run correctly on these 64-bit OSs. I have not tried 64-bit Windows, as that platform is always more difficult.
Looking at the first failure, the cause is that a track never entered a volume that is right in its path, it just kept tracking in the World. This works correctly in all three 32-bit builds.
This is a failure of very basic Geant4 operation. It certainly is possible that the problem is in my code, but I thought I'd ask before digging into a difficult and subtle problem.
Has anyone gotten Geant4 working reliably when built for 64-bit Linux or Mac?
