Hi Joe,

Sounds like a nice solution for your users. You are of course welcome to share this solution with others.

If what you're asking is whether the Geant4 collaboration would adopt such an installation system as an officially supported option or officially recommend it to others, then there are larger issues.

For the visualization options, it would indeed need to support the full set of drivers that we otherwise support on Windows.

But beyond that comes the question of how this solution integrates into Geant4's overall plan for installation, which is moving towards cmake, and the question of what level of commitment you would be able to make going forwards. Any solution that we recommend has to be supported not just for the current release but for other releases for the forseeable future. If you and Sandia are interested in supporting this solution long term (testing, evolving, etc.), it becomes more valuable to all of us.

We certainly do need additional windows installation expertise in our collaboration and would be interested to bring experts such as yourself into the collaboration.

Joseph
