Question "Building library management utility liblist" produces error

Forum: Installation and Configuration
Date: 04 Feb, 2010
From: Andreas Zwerger <Andreas Zwerger>

Dear Geant4 users!

Compiling Geant4 under Windows with VC9.0 went ok so far, only the last step produces an error.
This is when it comes to build the liblist tool and the libmap (at the end of Geant4 build process).
I cannot figure out what is the problem. Here is the errormessage (the end of the g4make.log-file):

this is what I get when I do ...
$ make liblist
Building library management utility liblist ...
make: *** [c:/Geant4/geant4_9_3/lib/WIN32-VC/liblist] Error 1

I checked everything that was suggested in the manual:

$ make --version
GNU Make 3.80

$ ./env.sh
On this machine the G4SYSTEM=WIN32-VC
On this machine the G4INSTALL=c:/Geant4/geant4_9_3

On this machine the XAWLIBS=
On this machine the G4LIB_BUILD_ZLIB=1
On this machine the G4LIB_USE_ZLIB=1
On this machine the G4LIB_BUILD_STATIC=1

The first problem I had was g++.exe missing in cygwin /bin folder. So I simply copied g++-4.exe to g++.exe in order to have the build process running.
Maybe this was wrong?

when I take a look into the makefile it gives me:

liblist: $(G4LIBDIR)/liblist

$(G4LIBDIR)/liblist: $(G4INSTALL)/config/liblist.c
	@$(ECHO) "Building library management utility liblist ..."
	@if [ ! -d $(G4LIBDIR) ] ; then mkdir $(G4LIBDIR) ;fi
	@$(CC) $(CCFLAGS) -o $(G4LIBDIR)/liblist $(G4INSTALL)/config/liblist.c

I couldn't find out where CC or CCFLAGS is defined. Might this be the problem?

Thanks for any answer, I have tried building the G4 libs 4 times now so your help is very much appreciated!

Best regards,
    Andreas
