Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. If you are only interested in one thread or the thread following a specific posting, click the thread or the posting, which takes you to a smaller page, which contains only the part you are interested in and may be easier to navigate.
Messages are "chained" if there are only replies at the first level, i.e. 1/1.html, 1/1/1.html etc. In case of "chained" messages the message number is replaced by the icon and there is no indentation.

In terms of performance I'm not aware of any significant differences between RedHat and Ubuntu.
The main thing to be aware of in terms of installing Geant4 is which packages need to be installed to support the optional parts of Geant4. I don't have a complete list for RedHat, but for Ubuntu a search through this forum will find several posts which list most of the packages needed.
Of course, SLC4/5 (effectively RedHat Enterprise 4/5) are supported platforms for Geant4, but we know it works on Ubuntu so no problem there. Ultimately it comes down to which distro you'd rather use!
