Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. If you are only interested in one thread or the thread following a specific posting, click the thread or the posting, which takes you to a smaller page, which contains only the part you are interested in and may be easier to navigate.
Messages are "chained" if there are only replies at the first level, i.e. 1/1.html, 1/1/1.html etc. In case of "chained" messages the message number is replaced by the icon and there is no indentation.

Since you don't state which Geant4 version you're installing, or the platform you're running on, I can't give an exact answer.
*Assuming*, like your other posts this is Geant4 8.1.p01, then it should be o.k. Looking in the Release Notes:
for that version, it was verified on Linux with gcc 4.1.1
However, given that you state
> The required version of gcc is given as 4.1.2 or 3.4.6
that sounds more like Geant4 9.2... In that case, just try it and see - probably be alright since 3.4.6<4.1.1<4.1.2 and it is verified on Mac OSX with gcc 4.0.1
