Question Problem installing CLHEP

Keywords: gcc clhep
Forum: Installation and Configuration
Date: 04 Jun, 2008
From: Carlo Nicolini <nicolini.carlo@gmail.com>

Hi all G4Users.

I've installed CLHEP and Geant4 on many PC but this time I have a big problem.

Following the Perl's instruction for Linux installation, when I try to build the CLHEP libraries I get:

carlo@carlo-desktop:~/CLHEP/2.0.3.3/CLHEP$ ./configure --prefix=/home/carlo/CLHEP checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... no checking for mawk... mawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether ln -s works... yes checking for ranlib... ranlib checking for cl... no checking for g++... g++ checking for C++ compiler default output file name... configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details.

Why can't I compile the libraries?

Ubuntu 8.02 gcc 4.2.3

Is it a problem of gcc?
