I have built geant4.9.1.p01 on both Mac OS X and on Linux. My attempt to build on Windows Xp (WIN32-VC) fails. This same approach worked for geant4.8.3 -- I'm using Cygwin, make 3.80, gcc (for dependencies), and the Microsoft VC++ compiler (Visual Studio 8, .NET 2003, SDK for Windows Server 2003 R2). I have been building this program for over a year on all 3 OSs. I need to move to geant4.9.1.p01 because geant4.8.3 gives an exception in hadronic physics (QGSP) -- my new Linux and Mac builds work for this case, but the old Windows build crashes.
On Windows Xp only: I run "./Configure -build", and answer all the questions; the results do not seem to depend on the answers I give. When I hit the final <CR> to start the build, I get:
File not found - *.SH
and it immediately quits, having built nothing; no tmp, lib, or bin directories were created. But it thinks it is time to do "Configure -install" (!).
Doing "grep '\.SH' `/bin/find . -type f`" was not helpful, and it is not at all obvious what is going on.
Can anyone help? This is supposed to be a supported configuration.
