Question How to introduce the sievert (Sv) as unit

Forum: Hits, Digitization and Pileup

From: Andrea Conti <Andrea Conti>

I would like to introduce the sievert (Sv), for equivalent and effective doses. In Geant4 there is already the gray (Gy). How can I consistently introduce the sievert, given that the sievert differs from the gray only because of a dimensionless factor ? I don't understand how I can use G4UnitDefinition to define the sievert starting from the gray, because effectively the sievert is not exactly a composed unit obtained from the gray, as the factor between the two units is dimensionless. Can anybody suggest a good and consistent conceptual approach ? Maybe I shouldn't introduce the sievert at all ? On the other hand my results must be output in sievert.

Thank you. Andrea Conti
