Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. I don't know how the 0.2 value was chosen. That was the value in the original Fortran code from which the Geant4 Bertini code was taken. It is supposed to represent the absorption of pions on quasi-deuterons, so I would expect it is necessary to get close to the pi+ d cross section.
Your result us very interesting though. How did you obtain it? Did you do a full simulation, or by running the pion process by itself? We have not yet done any validations at these energies, so it would be interesting to see more of your results if you have them.
We are in the process of reviewing and repairing Bertini and have found other parameters which are incorrect, so it is possible corr_fac could be 1. For my part, I hesitate to change it until a complete validation is done, just to guarantee that other areas which now have good agreement are not disturbed. Certainly the Ashery paper will serve as a validation data set, but it will take time to complete.
