I have seen there was a question on the possibility of simulating (alhpa,n) reactions with GEANT4. Unfortunately, the answer was not very clear. Therefore, I would like to ask again if there is any class which can be used for an appropriate simulation of the neutron production induced by light charged particles at energies below 20 MeV.
The production of neutrons with charged particles is a very common phenomenon and a good experimental description is available. Indeed, many nuclear data libraries do contain evaluated cross sections for the most common reactions which could be used as it is the case of the so-called "High Precision" model for neutrons: alpha + Be-9, alpha + Al-27, alpha + F-19, alpha + B-10,11, alpha + C-13, proton + 7Li, proton + He-3, H-2 + H-2, H-2 + H-3 and so on...
I have tried with a standard hadronic physics list (a modified version of the underground physics exampl) and no neutron production was observed. Is there any other class (based on experimental cross section) describing the "inelastic" process which could account for it?
