Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried this before with no success. 
Nevertheless, I tested your suggestion:
StackingAction::ClassifyNewTrack(const G4Track* aTrack)
{ //First (my old) trial:
  if ( aTrack->GetParentID() == 0 ) return fUrgent;
  Particle = aTrack->GetDefinition();
  particleName = Particle -> GetParticleName();
 runaction->CountParticles(particleName);
 //second (your) trial:
G4String particleType = aTrack->GetDefinition()->GetParticleType();
 if (particleType == "nucleus" && aTrack->GetParentID()>0)
    {
     // G4String processname = aTrack->GetCreatorProcess()->GetProcessName();
     // This did not compile and is not used, so I left it out
      G4Ions* ion = (G4Ions*) aTrack->GetDefinition();
      G4int Z = ion->GetAtomicNumber();
      G4int A = ion->GetAtomicMass();
	if (Z==79 && A==198)runaction->CountAu();
 }
 G4ClassificationOfNewTrack status = fUrgent;
 return status;
}

The result is three times the same number of AU-198-atoms in RunAction: one from SteppingAction, and these two from StackingAction.
